Environment & Sustainability
Peet Limited is committed to environmental excellence and sustainability in all our projects.
We were the first developer in Western Australia to receive the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s EnviroDevelopment Water Accreditation at the coastal community of Shorehaven at Alkimos in 2010.
Peet’s ongoing commitment continues to be recognised, with more of Peet’s communities receiving accreditation during 2011, including Avon Ridge Estate at Brigadoon which has been recognised in the categories of Water and Ecosystems.
In Victoria, Quarters in Cranbourne West was among the first to receive EnviroDevelopment accreditation in that State, with Aston, Craigieburn and Cardinia Lakes in Pakenham also recently receiving accreditation. Quarters and Aston have received accreditation in the categories of Water, Ecosystems and Community, and Cardinia Lakes has been recognised for achievements in Ecosystems and Community.
In Victoria, Peet had the first 5-star energy rated display village at Innisfail Estate and, in Western Australia, the only GreenSmart accredited display village at Quattro: The New Queens Park.
Some of Peet’s other environmental initiatives and activities undertaken include:
- implementing water-wise initiatives;
- recycling and re-using of construction by-products;
- applying environmentally sensitive landscaping and design;
- implementing flora and fauna management plans;
- incorporating and rehabilitating existing natural features such as lakes, wetlands and bushland; and
- establishing links with the local community to engage them in environmental programs.
